Split four-year sports career between University and North … as a sophomore he started for University’s 1972 sectional champions, the school’s only sectional title in school history … was North’s first 3-sport star and first Cougar basketball player to score 1,000 points, finishing with 1,089, counting both schools … averaged 18 points, 9 rebounds his senior year … named to All-State second team … leading scorer and MVP in both football and basketball his senior year … played multiple positions in football … led team in scoring with 10 TDs … earned spot in 1974 Indiana North-South All-Star Football Game … also named a prep all-American in football, basketball … started all four years in baseball, finishing with a career batting average of .317 … member of North’s 1974 state semifinalists in baseball…member of Bloomington’s 1973 Babe Ruth World Series team coached by Monroe County Sports Hall of Famers Russ Carpenter and Kent DeFord … team finished fourth in nation … hit a 400-foot home run off future Major League Baseball star Rick Sutcliffe of Missouri squad … accepted a football scholarship from Indiana University and played under Lee Corso … inducted into North’s inaugural Wall of Fame in 2006.
