J.R. Holmes

The only student in Needmore High School (now a part of Bedford North Lawrence) to earn 16 varsity letters…. at age 23, he was named head coach at Tunnelton High School in Bedford,for two years … ten years as head coach at Mitchell High School in Mitchell, Ind…since taking the BHSS position he has coached the unbeaten state champion, 2009 (the school’s first-ever undefeated season and Indiana High School Athletics Association State Championship; the team finished No. 3 in the nation, the highest national ranking in the school’s history; won State again in 2011 … won 500-plus games … coached 2009 “Mr. Basketball” (Jordan Hulls) … also school athletic director… still actively coaching.
