Alexandra Warzyniak – Bloomington High School South – Cross Country, Track

Academic honors include Honors Diploma, President’s Award for Educational Excellence, Principal’s Scholar Award, Conference Indiana Academic Award, National Honor Society and the Ruth Hidor Award. She will attend IU on an athletic scholarship after excelling at cross country and track, qualifying for state in both sports all four years, finishing second in the 1600 her junior year. In cross country she was the H-T’s Runner of the Year in 2011, ’12 and ’13

 

Grant Sims – Bloomington High School North – Basketball

Sims will attend the University of Illinois-Chicago next fall on a full athletic scholarship. He was selected Academic All-State and has a 3.9 GPA. He capped off a great four-year basketball career at North by leading the Cougars to a regional title, leading scorer and leading rebounder of the 2014 boys’ basketball sectional and regional championship; named Player of the Year by the Herald-Times. He also made All-Conference, honorable mention All-State and Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association All-District. He participated in the Hoosier Basketball Magazine’s Top 60 workout and played in the HBCA All-Star Game.

 

Ghassan “Gus” Dajani – Bloomington High School South – Football, Wrestling

Gus Dajani received an Academic Honors diploma from South and the President’s Award for Educational Excellence. He made Conference Indiana’s All-Academic Team and is a member of the National Honor Society. He will attend Indiana University. He played football and wrestling In football, Dajani played offensive line and received honorable mention on the H-T’s All-Area Team. In wrestling, he was a regional champion in the heavyweight division and qualified for state. He had 39 wins this year and 99 for his career.

 

Patrick Mosby – Edgewood High School – Football, Track

Patrick Mosby graduated with an Academic Honors diploma, posted a 3.53 GPA and will attend Butler University to play Division I football, non-scholarship. Named Second-Team All-Area as an offensive lineman and also was named to the All-Region Team by the Indiana Football Coaches Association. In addition, the Wabash Valley Coaches Association named him Academic All-State, and the Edgewood coaches gave him the Mustang Award, the team’s highest honor. In track, Mosby’s specialties were the shot put and discus. He made All-Western Indiana Conference in both and qualified for the regional in the shot put.

 

Vanessa Brown – Edgewood High School – Basketball, Volleyball

All-Area First Team in two sports, volleyball and basketball. In basketball, the two-time MVP played on two sectional championship teams and finished as Edgewood’s all-time rebounder, all-time 3-point shooter and second all-time scorer. She was named to the HBCA All-Star Team. She also played on two sectional champions in volleyball and was named All-Area her junior and senior seasons. She graduated with a 3.78 GPA and will attend IU.

 

Kate Raphael – Bloomington High School North – Cross Country, Track and Field

Raphael, a track and cross country standout, is a Wells Scholar and with a 4.4 GPA. Recruited by several Division I universities to run both cross country and track and field, she will attend Yale University and pursue a career in biological research. She holds school records in six track events: indoor and outdoor 800 meter; indoor 1600 meter; outdoor 1600 meter relay and outdoor 3200 meter relay. She was the 800 and 1600 champion in the sectional, regional and semistate this year and anchored North’s medal-winning relay team at state. In cross country, Raphael is a three-time Gold Award winner as the team’s most valuable runner. In addition, she received all-state recognition as first clarinet in the school band.
